Membership Benefits

CGC membership provides groundwater managers with an opportunity to influence the development of groundwater policy in California. Specifically, CGC membership offers:

  • Advocacy for and education about groundwater issues through an experienced lobbyist with groundwater expertise and critical relationships with Legislators, the Administration, and staff.

 

  • Timely information and inside understanding of water and groundwater issues that are being discussed at the Capitol.

 

  • Opportunities to weigh in and influence state policy development, including bond and budget funding opportunities.

 

  • A network of other GSAs, water agencies, groundwater managers and technical experts on key issues, challenges, and solutions.

 

  • Name recognition at the capitol as a result of the years of testifying and providing input on bills, bonds, and policy documents.

SUSTAINING MEMBERS – Voting

Agencies or organizations that pump from, replenish to or manage groundwater basins

  • All the benefits of New GSA Members/Affiliate Members, plus:

  • Member entities information/short profile on website.

  • Opportunity to serve as a Board Member or Officer, if elected, which includes the ability to establish official CGC policy and legislative decisions.

AFFILIATE MEMBERS & NEW GSA MEMBERS – Non-Voting

Affiliate Members: Agencies or organizations that act as consultants to Sustaining Members

GSA Members: Groundwater Sustainability Agencies formed as the result of SGMA receive a two-year discounted rate

  • All the benefits of Educational Members, plus:

  • Regular legislative updates, including calls to action if needed.

  • Participation in legislative calls/emails to determine CGC’s positions amendments, strategy, etc., as needed.

  • Participation in lobbying meetings in Sacramento with regulatory entities, the Governor’s office, and legislature.

EDUCATIONAL MEMBERS – Non-Voting

Public and private universities and colleges and the research branches of those institutions

  • Overall benefit of belonging to and participating in the only groundwater-specific organization that actively lobbies in Sacramento.

  • Attendance at and participation in quarterly board meetings.

  • Access to bill tracking list and bill positions on website.

  • Logo included on website.
